Palos Verdes Crime: Stealing Money From Elder

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Jan. 8 through Tuesday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Jan. 6 through last Saturday.

Palos Verdes Estates

One person was arrested on a felony warrant, one on suspicion of public intoxication and two people on misdemeanor warrants.

Jan. 8, 11:21 a.m.; 1100 block of Granvia Altamira
A driver of a vehicle was cited for speeding and no proof of insurance during a traffic stop.

Jan. 11, 8:45 a.m.; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West and Via Corta
During a traffic stop, the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license.

Jan. 12, 4:37 a.m.; 3100 block of Palos Verdes Drive North
During a traffic stop the driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license and on two outstanding misdemeanor warrants.

Public Intoxication

Jan. 8, 9:31 p.m.; 1300 block of Paseo del Mar
While investigating a parking violation, officers arrested one of the vehicle's occupants on suspicion of public intoxication from alcohol and a second occupant for public intoxication from drugs.  

Vandalism

Jan. 12, 9:24 a.m.; 1200 block of Via Nogales
Someone used a small tire iron to smash the rear windshield of a vehicle.

Jan. 15, 4:09 a.m.; Lower Paseo del Sol
An unknown person used black and white markers to write graffiti on the north cement curb of the Paseo del Sol fire road.

Forgery and Financial Elder Abuse

Jan. 11; 4300 block of Via Azalea
Between Dec. 4 and Dec. 26, a suspect allegedly stole, forged and deposited a victim's checks without their knowledge.

Commercial Burglary

Jan. 13, 1:34 a.m.; 2300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
While responding to a burglary alarm, officers discovered that someone had used a rock to break a window of a building to steal three bottles of alcohol.

Rancho Palos Verdes

One person was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and driving under the influence.

Burglary

Jan. 6; 1700 block of Westmont Drive
An unknown person punched in the lock of a vehicle and stole a purse, credit cards and $300 in cash.

Jan. 7-8; 6600 block of Via Colinita
Someone entered a garage and took a nail gun, two electric saws, three cordless drills, and electric jackhammer and an electric steel grinder.

Jan. 10-11; 4100 block of Admirable Drive
An unknown person pulled plywood off the rear door of a vacant residence and took an air compressor.

Jan. 11-12; 31200 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Someone entered a business through a window with a missing glass pane an too a jackhammer, two nailguns, a hand saw, two toolboxes and other power tools.

Grand Theft

Jan. 8; 5700 block of Ravenspur Drive
An unknown person stole a 2007 black Honda civic.

Jan. 11-12; 6800 block of Faircove Drive
A catalytic converter was stolen off a vehicle.

Petty Theft

Jan. 10; 28600 block of Enrose Avenue
Someone stole a clothes drier from a residence.

Rolling Hills Estates

One person was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

Rolling Hills

No crimes or arrests were reported during this period.

Westfield

No crimes or arrests were reported during this period.
