Palos Verdes Crime: Spray-Painted Face

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Departmentreported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Oct. 23 through last Monday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Oct. 21 through last Saturday. 

This week's police blotter includes a report of someone spray painting a face on city property and a rash of thefts and burglaries in Rancho Palos Verdes. 

Palos Verdes Estates

Police arrested five people on suspicion of driving under the influence and two people on suspicion of trespassing.

Vandalism

Oct. 28; 2200 block of Paseo del Sol
Someone spray painted a face on city property and also spray painted unknown lettering on a California Edison electrical box before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

Trespassing

Oct. 24, 1:30 a.m.; 2600 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Two minors were cited with trespassing after officers conducted a security check of a vacant residence. 

Hit and Run

Oct. 24; 200 block of Via Navajo
A car that was legally parked on the street was struck by an unknown vehicle causing minor damage to the driver's side mirror and front wheel.

Driving Under the Influence

Oct. 25, 1:20 a.m.; intersection of Via Valmonte and Palos Verdes Drive North
During a traffic stop, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Oct. 25, 10:30 p.m.; 1400 block of Via Coronel
During a traffic stop, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Oct. 27, 1:47 a.m.; intersection of Paseo del Campo and Palos Verdes Drive West
During a traffic stop, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Oct. 29, 1:46 a.m.; intersection of Via Rosa and Palos Verdes Drive West
During a traffic stop, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Oct. 29, 2:52 a.m.; intersection of Via Arriba and Via Montemar
During a traffic stop, police arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and driving with a suspended license.

Theft

Oct. 27, 10:03 a.m.; 2800 block of Paseo del Sol
Someone stole jewelry from a residence and fled the scene undetected. 

Rancho Palos Verdes

Deputies arrested one individual on suspicion of violating vehicle/boating laws and two people on suspicion of burglary.

Residential Burglaries

Oct. 23; 6900 block of Abbottswood
An unknown person smashed the front glass door of a home, entered the residence and proceeded to take earrings and a necklace.

Oct. 24, 11:30 a.m.; 2100 block of Chandeleur Drive
A window of a house was shattered by an unknown person and an unknown amount of items were taken from the home.

Oct. 25; 6700 block of Los Verdes Drive
Someone entered a residence by removing the window screen to the house. Unknown items were taken.

Oct. 26; Sail View Lane
An unknown person removed the window screen to a home, entered the residence and stole jewelry and a cabinet drawer.

Oct. 26-28; 26700 block of Menominee Place
Unknown items were stolen from a home after someone entered the residence by removing a window screen.

Oct. 27-28; 6600 block of Via Colinita
Someone cut the padlock to a home's garage and proceeded to take grinders, a saw, compressor, and epoxy gun and a drill.

Petty Theft (Vehicle)

Oct. 25;  3200 block of Deluna Drive
Somone took a backpack, ID card, sunglasses and earrings from a vehicle parked on a residential street.

Oct. 24-25; 3300 block of Deluna Drive
An unknown person took $22 in currency, a purse and costume jewelry from a car parked on a residential street.

Unknown items were taken from a car parked on a residential street by an unknown person.

Oct. 27-28; 2800 block of Via el Miro
Someone stole a GPS unit from a vehicle parked on a residential street.

Grand Theft Auto

Oct. 21; 6200 block of Via Colinita
Someone stole a 2004 red BMW 325ci. The vehicle was later recovered at the intersection of Second Street and Mesa Street in San Pedro. 

Oct. 11-21; 6800 block of Los Verdes Drive
A blue 1995 Honda Accord was stolen by an unknown person and was later recovered in the 1600 block of Gulf Avenue in Wilmington.

Shoplifting

Oct. 21, 6:30 p.m.; 28900 block of Western Avenue
Two suspects were arrested on suspicion of shoplifting a bottle of Bombay Sapphire gin from a store.

Commercial Burglary

Oct. 20-22; 28900 block of Western Avenue
Two apple computers were taken from an office building after someone pried open a door to the business.

Attempted Vehicle Burglary

Oct. 22; 2100 block of Crestwood Drive
Someone punched in the driver's side door of a vehicle parked on a residential street.

Grand Theft

Oct. 22, 4:00 p.m.; 30800 block of Palos Verdes Drive East
Someone stole an apple laptop.

Oct. 26-27; 2200 block of Toscanini Drive
The tailgate to a 2012 Chevy Silverado parked on a residential street was taken by an unknown person.

Vehicle Burglary

Oct. 27, 30300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
Someone smashed the passenger side window of a vehicle parked in a parking lot and took a purse, cell phone and keys.

Oct. 27, 30300 block of Hawthorne Boulevard
Someone smashed the passenger side window of a vehicle parked in a parking lot and took $75 in currency, a drivers license, iPhone, glasses, credit cards and checks.

Attempted Grand Theft

Oct. 27; Miraleste Plaza
Two known suspects allegedly attempted to taken unknown objects and fled in a white 1990's-era ford van. The first suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 50 years of age, 5'10" tall with a heavy build. The second suspect is described as a minor, 15-18 years of age.

Rolling Hills

No arrests occurred during this period.

Grand Theft

Oct. 24, 4:45 p.m.; Georgeff Road
Nine cable box batteries were stolen from a residential street by an unknown person.

Rolling Hills Estates

One person was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Grand Theft Auto

Oct. 25, 11:15 a.m.; 27500 block of Eastvale Road
A blue 1998 Nissan Frontier pickup truck was stolen by someone but eventually recovered on Branding Iron Lane.

Petty Theft

Oct. 25; 27100 block of Silver Spur Road
Someone stole an iPhone from a gym locker room.

Grand Theft

Oct. 25, Branding Iron Lane
Lawnmowers, weedwackers, a chainsaw, hedge trimmer and leaf blower were stolen by an unknown person from the truck tied to the Grand Theft Auto incident on Eastvale Road (see above).

Westfield

No crimes or arrests were reported during this time.
