Palos Verdes Crime: Punched in the Face

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Oct. 16 through last Monday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Oct. 14 through last Saturday. 

This week's police blotter includes a report of a man punching someone in the face, a stolen pistol, a fight between minors at a soccer game and arrests on drug charges.

Palos Verdes Estates

Police arrested one person on suspicion of a traffic offense, one person on suspicion of possession of heroin, one person on a warrant and three people on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Vehicle burglaries

Oct. 17; 4100 block of Via Solano
Someone entered the victim's locked vehicle, which was parked in his driveway, removed property and fled the scene undetected.

Oct. 17; 2500 block of Via Campesina
Someone entered a victim's unlocked vehicle, removed property and fled the area undetected.

Traffic offense

Oct. 18, 3:05 p.m.; intersection of Yarmouth Road and Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

Possession of heroin

Oct. 19, 2:40 a.m.; 200 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of possession of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Battery

Oct. 19, 8:19 p.m.; intersection of Via Carrillo and Via Romero
Someone exited a blue Chevrolet SUV and punched the victim in the face. The assailant got back into the SUV and fled.

Warrant arrest

Oct. 20, 10:03 a.m.; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
A person entered the lobby of the Palos Verdes Estates Police Department to try to retrieve property from his vehicle, which had been towed. An officer arrested the man on an outstanding warrant.

Driving under the influence

Oct. 20, 11:18 p.m.; 900 block of Granvia Altamira
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Oct. 21, 1:30 a.m.; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Oct. 22, 8:05 p.m.; intersection of Anza Avenue and Torrance Boulevard, Torrance
An officer conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Rancho Palos Verdes

Deputies arrested two people on drug charges.

Vehicle burglary

Oct. 15, 3 a.m.; 28700 block of Mount Rushmore Road
The front driver's side door of a vehicle was pried open. No loss was reported.

Grand theft from a vehicle

Oct. 14-15; 2200 block of Sunnyside Ridge Road
Someone stole a pistol and a GPS from a parked car.

Oct. 16-17; 5900 block of Armaga Springs Road
A 2003 Honda CBR-600 RR motorcycle was stolen from the parking lot of an apartment building.

Petty theft

Oct. 14; 100 block of Terranea Way
An iPad was stolen from someone at the Terranea Resort.

Petty theft from a vehicle

Oct. 14-15; 100 block of Surrey Lane
A commercial driver's license, gift cards, $40 in cash and a cardholder were stolen from a car parked on Surrey Lane.

Oct. 14-15; 100 block of Surrey Lane
A theft occurred from a vehicle in the 100 block of Surrey Lane. The loss was unknown.

Residential burglary

Oct. 17; 29600 block of Island View Drive
A burglar stole a purse, bag, watch and jewelry from a home in the 29600 block of Island View Drive.

Assault with a deadly weapon

Oct. 20, 12:13 p.m.; 32200 block of Forrestal Drive
Deputies responded to a fight between juveniles during a soccer match.

Rolling Hills

No crimes or arrests were reported.

Rolling Hills Estates

No crimes or arrests were reported.

Westfield

Deputies arrested one person on suspicion of battery. No other crimes were reported.
