Palos Verdes Crime: Grave Burglary

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Jan. 16 through Tuesday. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Jan. 14 through last Saturday.

Rancho Palos Verdes

One person was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and driving under the influence and one person was arrested on suspicion of criminal conspiracy/receiving stolen property.

Robbery/Home Invasion

Jan. 18, 11:20 a.m.; 32000 block of Pacifica Drive
A suspect entered a home through an unlocked sliding glass door and allegedly took a white gold ring, iPhone 4 and $200 in cash. (See related story here)

Burglary

Dec. 1 - Jan. 13; 27500 block of Western Avenue
An unknown person gained entry to a mausoleum and took a gold wedding band, and a white gold wedding band.

Jan. 14; 3900 block of Palos Verdes Drive South
Someone entered a residence through a locked garage door and took silver spoons, a cell phone, band statements and a pillow case.

Jan. 14; 6200 block of Picardie Road
An unknown person entered a residence through a locked rear door and took silverware and a watch from the home.

Jan. 15; 5500 block of Elmbank Road
Someone entered a home through an unlocked bathroom window and took rings, necklaces and earrings.

Jan. 15; 5300 block Manitowac Drive
Someone broke into a residence through an unsecured doggy door but did not take anything from the home.

Jan. 16-17; 6200 block of Via Canada
An unknown person shattered the rear window of a vehicle and took a backpack, gate remote, prescription medication, a wallet and credit card.

Jan. 17; 26200 block of Basswood Avenue
An unknown person entered a home through the unlocked front door and took an iPad 2.

Grand Theft

Jan. 8-11; Rockinghorse Road
An unknown person broke into a locked safe in a garage and took $4000 in cash, a .380 caliber semi-automatic pistol and a .357 caliber revolver.

Jan. 15; 6700 block of Los Verdes Drive
Various rental checks were stolen.

Vehicle Theft

Jan. 15-16; 6600 block of Abbotswood Drive
Two people were arrested after they allegedly stole sunglasses, movie tickets and an Apple iPod from an unlocked vehicle.

Palos Verdes Estates

One person was arrested on suspicion of violating probation and two people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Theft

Jan. 16; 500 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
A known suspect allegedly impersonated the victim's grandson and persuaded the victim to send money by false pretenses.

Jan. 16; 2800 block of Via Segovia
Someone used a victim's credit card information through unknown means and used the information to transfer $25 to an inmate phone service account.

Jan. 17; 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An unknown person pretended to be the victim's grandson and persuaded the victim to send money to him under false pretenses.

Vehicle Theft

Jan. 17; 400 block of Via Almar
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle and took $20 in cash from the glove compartment before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction.

Probation Violation

Jan. 16, 4:21 p.m.; 2000 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Duirng a traffic stop and officer arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of driving with a suspended license, driving without a required ignition interlock device and violation of probation.  

Driving Under the Influence

Jan. 19, 2:02 a.m.; 3000 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
During a traffic stop, and officer arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Jan. 21, 3:03 a.m.; 1700 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
During a traffic stop, and officer arrested the driver of the vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Rolling Hills

Westfield
