Palos Verdes Crime: Brandishing Pruning Shears

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Oct. 7 through last Saturday. The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Oct. 9 through last Monday.

This week's police reports include a neighbor who allegedly threatened a victim with pruning shears and another stolen third row seat from a vehicle.

Palos Verdes Estates

Police arrested three people on suspicion of driving under the influence, one individual on suspicion of violating a restraining order and one person on a warrant.

Vandalism

Oct. 9, 1200 block of Via Romero
Vandals damaged a driver's side mirror of a vehicle parked on a residential street and then fled the scene.

Brandishing a Weapon

Oct. 8, 2500 block of Via Campesina
Witnesses say a neighbor used profanity towards a fellow neighbor in an aggressive manner and then threatened the victim with a pair of pruning shears.

Thefts from Vehicles

Oct. 10, 2200 block of Chelsea Road
Someone entered an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway and removed property from it before fleeing the area.

Oct. 13, 2100 block of Via Rivera
Someone gained access to an unlocked SUV and removed the third-row seat and electronics.

Driving Under the Influence

Oct. 11, 1:46 a.m., Intersection of Silver Spur and Palos Verdes Drive North
During a traffic stop, officers arrested the driver of a vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Oct. 14, 3:46 a.m., Intersection of Via del Puente and Via Corta
During a traffic stop, officers arrested the driver of a vehicle on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and providing a false name.

Possession of Cocaine and Marijuana for Sale

Sept. 28, 1:37 a.m., Palos Verdes Drive West and Via Montemar
During a traffic stop, officers arrested a driver and his two passengers on suspicion of possession and transportation of cocaine and marijuana with intent to sell.

Restraining Violation

Oct. 11, 9:36 p.m., Punta Place
After observing a parking violation, an officer arrested the passenger of the vehicle on suspicion of violating a restraining order.

Warrant Arrest

Oct. 12, 8:03 a.m., Intersection of Via Coronel and Via Fernandez
A suspect was arrested on an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. 

Rancho Palos Verdes

Deputies arrested one individual on suspicion possession of marijuana and two people on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

Petty Theft (Vehicle)

Oct. 7-8, 30100 block of Cartier
A burglar broke into a vehicle and stole the vehicle's registration, a pocket knife and $10 in currency.

Oct. 12-13, 6600 block of Channel View
Someone broke into a vehicle and took a purse, drivers license, seven credit cards, a checkbook, cell phone, sunglasses, vehicle registration and cash.

Vehicle Burglaries

Oct. 7-8, 6300 block of Chartres
Someone entered a vehicle through the front driver's side door and took a wallet.

Oct. 12, 13500 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
A thief took two purses from a vehicle parked in a business parking lot.

Residential Burglary

Oct. 10, 29200 block of Whitley Collins
An individual entered a residence through a window and took jewelry from the house.

Petty Theft (Residential)

Oct. 11, 4:15 p.m., 28000 block of Los Verdes
Burglars entered a residence and took an unknown amount of items.

Vehicle Theft

Oct. 7, 10:15 a.m., 6600 block of Via Siena
A suspect described as a 21-year-old, 5-foot-eleven-inch white man with brown hair allegedly stole a silver 2009 Jeep Patriot from a business parking lot.  

Rolling Hills Estates

One person was arrested on suspicion of forgery and one individual was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license.

Westfield

No crimes or arrests were reported during this period.

Rolling Hills

No crimes or arrests were reported during this period.
