Palos Verdes Crime: Assault With Mini Cooper

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department supplied this information on crime in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, Westfield and Palos Verdes Estates.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station reported the following crimes and arrests in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Rolling Hills Estates and Westfield for the week spanning Sept. 16 through last Saturday. The Palos Verdes Estates Police Department reported the following crimes and arrests in Palos Verdes Estates for the week spanning Sept. 19 through last Tuesday.

This week's police reports include alleged assault with a deadly weapon using a mini cooper and an armed carjacking.

Rolling Hills Estates

Deputies arrested one individual on suspicion of commercial burglary.

Assault With a Deadly Weapon

8:30 p.m., Sept. 18, Intersection of Palos Verdes Drive East and Harbor Sight Drive
A culprit described as a white man with black hair rear ended a vehicle with his 2005 Mini Cooper. The man then continued to tailgate the vehicle he had just hit for five more miles until he eventually passed the vehicle and made an obscene gesture.

Commercial Burglary

2:00 p.m., Sept. 21, 900 block of Silver Spur Road
Two people entered a store and allegedly stole two cases of beer and one bottle of vodka. One of the suspects was arrested on suspicion of burglary but the second person is still outstanding. All of the stolen alcohol was recovered.

Palos Verdes Estates

Police arrested two people on outstanding warrants, one on suspicion of driving under the influence and being drunk in public, one person on suspicion of possession of narcotics for sale and one individual for allegedly DUI and possession of cocaine.

Identity Theft

Sept. 19, 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
Someone used a victim's social security number to file a fraudulent income tax return without the victim's knowledge.  

Residential Burglary

Sept. 19, 2500 block of Via Anacupa
A burglar entered a residence by smashing a sliding glass door and stole jewelry from the home's master bedroom before fleeing out the front door.

Traffic Offense and Possession of Narcotics for Sale

1:20 a.m., Sept. 20, 400 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
A driver was arrested during a traffic stop on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and possession and transport of marijuana and xanex with intent to sell.

Driving Under the Influence & Possession of Cocaine

1:50 a.m., Sept. 21, Intersection of Palos Verdes Drive North and Paseo Lunado
Officers arrested a suspect on suspicion of DUI and also found the person to be in possession of cocaine.

Theft

Sept. 22, 2500 block of Via Campesina
A burglar gained entry to an apartment through an unsecured garage and removed property from the unit.

DUI and Drunk in Public

3:17 a.m., Sept. 23, 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
During a traffic stop, officers arrested the driver on suspicion of driving under the influence and the passenger on suspicion of being drunk in public.

Traffic Offense/Warrant Arrest

10:08 a.m., Sept. 24, 1200 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
A driver was arrested during a traffic stop on suspicion of driving with a suspended license and on an outstanding warrant.

Warrant Arrest

5:44 a.m., Sept. 24, 300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West
An officer was detailed to the Hermosa Beach Police Department to pick up a suspect for a warrant arrest.

Rancho Palos Verdes

Police arrested one individual on suspicion of driving under the influence.

Grand Theft

Sept. 15-16, 29400 block of Indian Valley Drive
A man alleged his girlfriend stole his laptop, digital camera and a bracelet. Deputies said the man was also recently arrested on suspicion of domestic violence against his girlfriend.

Residential Burglaries

Sept. 18, 27100 block of Mesaba Drive
Someone removed the kitchen window of a house and took an unknown amount of items from the house.

Sept. 18-19, 6200 block of Via Colinita
A burglar entered an unlocked garage door and stole a backpack full of textbooks.

Sept. 22, 1800 block of Caddington Drive
A burglar entered a house through a garage door that was left partially open and stole a cell phone, keys, GPS, CDs and a vehicle owner's manual from the garage.

Petty Theft (Vehicle)

Sept. 18, 27000 block of Freeport Road
Someone stole a pair of sunglasses from a vehicle.

Carjacking

10:41 p.m., Sept. 21, 32000 block of Sea Ridge Circle
A man wearing a black jumpsuit attempted to unlock the driver's side door of a woman's car as she pulled into her driveway. The suspect then pointed a gun at the woman but fled to a white car once she starting honking her horn in fear. The suspect is described as a 5-foot-7-inch, 20- to 25-year-old black man with black hair.

Vehicle Burglary

Sept. 21, 5600 block of Crestridge Road
Someone smashed the passenger side window of a car and stole credit cards from the vehicle parked on a residential street.

Westfield
