National Weather Service Issues Warning About Rip Currents

The hazard statement covers beaches along the south side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

The National Weather Service has issued a Beach Hazards Statement for south-facing beaches in Los Angeles County until 11 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, the city of Rancho Palos Verdes announced today.

The warning includes beaches along the south side of the Palos Verdes Peninsula.

"A long period south swell will continue to bring a high risk of very strong and dangerous rip currents to area beaches and elevated surf to many south facing beaches through this evening," says the NWS warning.

Already this week, rescuers have come to the aid of three people stranded on the rocks off the coast of Rancho Palos Verdes or caught in the waves.
