Manhattan Beach Firefighters Dress in Pink

The Fire Department wore pink uniforms this week to promote Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The Manhattan Beach Fire Department has been sporting pink shirts this week in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Until November 1, firefighters and department staff will don the pink uniforms while on shift to help raise awareness about the cancer.

"Wearing pink is a small thing, but it sends an important message of solidarity and strength," said fire chief Bob Espinosa. "The community battling breast cancer and searching for a cure needs as many allies as it can get."

Manhattan Beach mayor Wayne Powell supported the department's efforts to raise awareness of the disease and added that almost everyone has known somebody affected by breast cancer.

"Our fire department’s mission is protecting the health and safety of others, so we are proud to join the fight against breast cancer and support Breast Cancer Awareness Month," Powell said.
