Man who Died in Crash on 405 at Artesia Identified as Long Beach Man

Four northbound lanes were closed while an investigation was conducted, a closure that was continuing about two and a half hours after the crash.

A 49-year-old man was killed in a two-vehicle collision on the northbound San Diego (405) Freeway in Torrance Friday.

The collision in the car pool lane occurred about 5:10 a.m., just north of Artesia Boulevard, the California Highway Patrol reported.

Long Beach resident Joseph Montross died at the scene, said CHP Officer Jennifer Cassidy.

two very bad 405 north on ramps as they are very short and traffic is slowing down to get on the 105 fwy. I always stay out of these dangerous right hand lanes
