Updated: Man Shot Dead in RPV, Sheriffs Say

An investigation into the suspected homicide near Abalone Cove Shoreline Park is underway, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Update (Saturday, 7:34 p.m.): Los Angeles County homicide detectives are continuing to investigate the shooting death of a 22-year-old man in Rancho Palos Verdes, according to county sheriffs.

Detectives learned about the man after a pair of hikers found his body around 10 p.m. Friday and called the county sheriff's station in Lomita.

The man was shot multiple times in the upper torso at the 5600 block of Palos Verdes Drive South, where a series of hiking trails are located, according to investigators.

Sheriff's detectives in Lomita are continuing to investigate the suspected crime.

The man, whose identity has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene around 10 p.m.
