Local Police to Run With Special Olympics Torch

Palos Verdes Estates Police Department officers will participate in the Special Olympics Southern California torch run Monday.

Officers from the will run with the Special Olympics torch Monday as part of this year's Law Enforcement Torch Run.

Six officers will receive the Special Olympics Southern California torch Monday morning in the fourth leg of the 66-leg run which begins in the South Bay and ends at California State University Long Beach.

A Palos Verdes Estates resident competing in the 2012 games will join the local officers.

The run, which is a Special Olympics fundraiser, raised about $1.3 million last year and drew participation from 120 law enforcement agencies.
