UPDATED: Firefighters Rescue Two Hikers in Palos Verdes Estates

The pair is stranded on a hillside in the 2500 block of Paseo Del Mar.

Firefighters today rescued a pair of hikers who became stranded on a Palos Verdes Estates hillside.

Rescuers used ropes to rappel down the hillside in the 2500 block of Paseo Del Mar so the two hikers could be pulled up at about 2:50 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Scott Miller said.

It was discovered shortly before 1 p.m. that the hikers were uninjured, but needed assistance to get out of the area, county fire department officials said.
