Ex-'Survivor' Producer's Kids to Get $50K in Life Insurance

Bruce Beresford-Redman is accused of killing his wife, Monica Beresford-Redman.

A judge has approved the transfer of $50,000 in life insurance funds to be held in trust for the children of former "Survivor" producer Bruce Beresford-Redman and his slain wife.

In a ruling Wednesday, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Roy Paul corrected a mistake made in November 2010 when the Worldwide Insurance Services money was erroneously transferred to the estate of the Monica Beresford-Redman, whose husband, producer Bruce Beresford-Redman, is charged in her death.

The couple had two children, Camila Beresford-Redman, 8, and her 6-year-old brother, Alec.

Paul also approved the allocation of half the funds in a $100,000 Citibank account opened by Monica Beresford-Redman in March 2010 to the producer as his share of their community property. In a final decision, Paul gave his nod to providing about $2,000 in estate funds to the producer's parents, David and Juanita Beresford-Redman. The money will cover costs they incurred to sell the former Rancho Palos Verdes home of their son and his wife.

David Beresford-Redman and his wife are already the guardians of the children, who live with them in Gardena.

Bruce Beresford-Redman is awaiting trial in Mexico for murder. The body of his 41-year-old wife was found in April 2010 in a sewer at the Moon Palace Hotel in Cancun, where the two were vacationing without their children.

Attorney Adrienne Hahn, on behalf of the producer's parents, told Paul the trial is likely still months away.
