Driver Pleads Guilty in Fatal Crash

Ho Seok Suh pleads guilty in the Jan. 18 death of Sean Heffernan, a student at Palos Verdes High School.

The man who struck and killed a 17-year-old Palos Verdes High School student pleaded guilty and was sentenced Tuesday to three years in state prison, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department.

Rancho Palos Verdes resident Ho Seok Suh, 55, must also pay restitution to the family of Sean Heffernan.

On Jan. 18, Heffernan was getting into his car in the 30400 block of Hawthorne Boulevard, near Robert E. Ryan Community Park, when Suh's vehicle struck the teen and three cars at the curb before jumping the raised median.

Suh failed a field sobriety test and was arrested on suspicion of vehicular manslaughter and driving under the influence. According to deputies, his blood alcohol content was estimated at 0.12 two hours after the collision.
