Police ID Body Found at Bottom of Cliff as Redondo Man

The man has been identified as Redondo Beach resident Joey Choudhury.

A body that was found at the bottom of a 200-foot cliff in Palos Verdes Estates on Monday has been identified as that of Redondo Beach resident Joey Choudhury, Los Angeles County coroner's office spokesperson Larry Dietz confirmed.

Dietz said that investigators have not yet determined a cause of death of the 37-year-old man who police said was initially reported as a missing person in Redondo Beach. However, the Daily Breeze reports that Choudhury's death is currently being investigated as a suicide.

On Sunday, Palos Verdes Estates police found Choudhury's unoccupied, illegally parked car in the 1300 block of Palos Verdes Drive West and discovered that Choudhury was reported as a missing person, according to Palos Verdes Estates police Sgt. Tony Gonzalez.

Gonzalez said officers searched the immediate area but could not find Choudhury.

The Redondo Beach Harbor Patrol, along with a helicopter from the Sheriff's Department, also aided in the search Sunday night with no results.

On Monday morning, Gonzalez said the search team returned and found Choudhury's body at the bottom of a 150 to 200-foot cliff near the shoreline in the 1400 block of Paseo del Mar.

Joey played in my band for a while when I lived in LA. He was one of the coolest, happiest, laid back dudes I had ever met. My heart goes out to his wife and children.

There are quite a few folk in Glasgow who knew Joey and Kyra. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Met Joey shortly before his death at the Ice Chalet where our kids skated. He seemed like such a gentle soul. RIP Joey.

I shared a flat for a couple of years with Joey in Glasgow. So sad to hear this news - such a cool, caring and laid back guy. My thoughts are with you and your family, Joey.

I worked with Joey and he was an amazing person to have been a peer with. So happy about his kids and wife. Pictures of them on his wall. Always a genuinely happy and chill guy. My heart goes out to his family. I don't believe this is suicide. That area is slippery. Has to be an accident. Sending love out to a really good person.
