Coast Guard Stops Search for Occupants of Capsized Boat

After a capsized panga was found early Tuesday morning near Palos Verdes, the U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for any missing occupants.

The U.S. Coast Guard has stopped searching for any missing people on board near Palos Verdes, according to a statement released this afternoon.

The panga was found near Bluff Cove about 6:30 a.m.

After Baywatch Cabrillo and the notified the Coast Guard, a 45-foot Response Boat and an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter were used to search the waters, according to a Coast Guard statement issued Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Border Patrol and Palos Verdes Estates Police Department also conducted searches of the shoreline.

Coast Guard pollution investigators determined there was no environmental impact from 17 empty fuel containers recovered on the beach.

The Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency will continue to investigate the discovery.
