Deputies: Burglar Caught on Camera, Arrested

Gerry Linn Taylor is charged in connection with a burglary in Rolling Hills Estates.

A man accused of burglarizing a closed business in Rolling Hills Estates was arraigned Thursday on charges of commercial burglary and petty theft with three or more prior convictions after police recognized him on surveillance video, authorities said.

Gerry Linn Taylor, 61, was arrested Tuesday in connection with the burglary, which occurred between the evening of Dec. 5 and the morning of Dec. 6.

"Taylor had forced entry into the closed business, and once inside, he pried open the cash register, stealing the money," according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Lomita Station. "The crime was captured on video."

While reviewing the surveillance video, one of the investigators recognized Taylor on the tape, according to the news release.

The investigator "has been dealing with Taylor for over 20 years, and the above crime was typical of Taylor's mode of operation," according to the news release. Taylor's record of thefts dates back to 1979.

Taylor is being held without bail at the Inmate Reception Center in downtown Los Angeles.
