Lifeguards Respond to Vessel in Distress Call
The incident off Trump National Golf Club in Rancho Palos Verdes was over by 2:15 p.m.
Baywatch Cabrillo and Baywatch Redondo responded to a report of a vessel in distress off the Palos Verdes Peninsula midday Thursday; however, no vessel was found, according to the Los Angeles County Lifeguards.
Ocean Lifeguard Specialist Eric Hendrickson at the Hermosa Beach Station said the original transmission about the vessel with five passengers aboard came in "very broken."
"They didn't get really much information off that at all," Hendrickson said.
Lifeguards sent two boats, in addition to vehicles on land, to search for the vessel; however, none that matched the description was found.
"It could be that (the boat) got underway, and they just headed out of the area," Hendrickson said.
