The northbound San Diego (405) Freeway has been closed at Hawthorne Boulevard while police investigate reports of shots being fired, according to the California Highway Patrol and Hawthorne police, who are assisting Redondo Beach police in the search. Hawthorne police say a suspect has been taken into custody and the area should soon be cleared.

The northbound freeway was closed for only eight minutes, but the Inglewood Avenue onramp onto the northbound freeway is still closed. The initial closure began about 4:10 p.m.
