Multiple PV Elections Likely to Be Canceled

Up to four elections in Palos Verdes may be canceled come Nov. 5.

Elections for the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District Board of Education, the Palos Verdes Library District Board of Trustees, and the Miraleste and Ridgecrest Ranchos recreation and parks districts will probably not be on the Nov. 5 ballot for residents of the Palos Verdes Peninsula, according to the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder's Office.

A list posted online of elections likely to be canceled includes those races; however, the cancellations have not yet been made official.

Only the three incumbents—board members Barbara Lucky, Malcolm Sharp and Anthony Collatos—filed for the Board of Education race. If the election is canceled, the three board members will be reappointed to their positions.

Though neither of the two incumbents filed for re-election in the PVLD Board of Trustees race, Kay Jue of Palos Verdes Estates and Kingston Wong of Rancho Palos Verdes were the only two people who submitted nomination papers. They will likely be appointed to the Board of Library Trustees.

Nobody filed nomination papers for either of the recreation and parks districts in Rancho Palos Verdes. In the past, the Rancho Palos Verdes City Council has appointed people to the two special districts when slots are not filled by election.
