RPV Man Dies in Colorado Plane Crash

Tari Taricco of Rancho Palos Verdes was the president of Long Beach-based Taricco Corp.

A Rancho Palos Verdes resident who perished in a plane crash in western Colorado last week died "doing exactly what (he) loved," his brother told the Daily Breeze.

Tari Taricco, 57, was on his way from Torrance Municipal Airport to Aspen when his fixed-wing, single-engine Cessna went down in a backyard about 80 miles from Aspel shortly before 6:15 p.m. Nov. 19. His family identified him Friday.

"We're both pilots," Taricco's brother, Todd, told the Breeze. "As pilots, we really just don't make mistakes."

Tari Taricco's sister-in-law remembered the man as "a good guy" who had been flying for at least 15 years.

Born June 5, 1956, Taricco played water polo and swam at Miraleste High School, from which he graduated in 1975, according to the Breeze.

Taricco's LinkedIn profile indicates that he graduated from the United States Merchant Marine Academy in 1978. He was the president of Long Beach-based Taricco Corp., which he founded in January 1985, until his death.

A full report on the crash will be available in about a year, a representative of the NTSB told the newspaper.

Taricco is survived by his wife, Maureen; his brother, Todd, and his sister-in-law, Anne; his mother, Deane Taricco; his daughter, Genevieve; and his son, Blake.
