OBIT: Traci Brown Austin, Active Mom, Film Associate Producer

She was a devoted daughter, mother and a tireless volunteer with schools, Masonic and philanthropic organizations.

Traci Elizabeth Brown Austin, age 49, passed away Wednesday, May 14 in her home in Rancho Palos Verdes.  

Traci was born in Culver City, CA and was a resident of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA for 28 years. She has a husband of 19 years, Thomas Austin, 14 year old daughter, Elise Austin, and mother, Madeleine Burger Pope of San Bernardino.

She was a devoted daughter, mother and a tireless volunteer with schools, Masonic and philanthropic organizations. She was a motion picture associate producer and accountant for 14 years with Direct Cinema and the International Documentary Association.  

A celebration of Traci’s life will be held at 3 p.m. May 21 at the Portuguese Bend Beach Club, 4100 Palos Verdes Drive South, Rancho Palos Verdes. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. May 22 at Montecito Memorial Park, 3520 East Washington St, Colton.

Traci was a Past Worthy Advisor for the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Southern California Jurisdiction Princess for DeMolay International and member of the Gate City Order of Eastern Star.  

Traci graduated from Eisenhower High School, Rialto, CA in 1983, where she was a Flag Girl and a member of Azurettes. Traci graduated with a Business Degree from the University of Southern California in 1987, where she was member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority and the USC Trojan Junior Auxiliary.  

She was the Leader of Girl Scout Troop 1245 in Rancho Palos Verdes.  She was a President of Palos Verdes Junior Women’s Club, Treasurer of Vistas for Children and a member of Mothers Advocating Prevention and Ek Kardia.  

Traci’s leadership of philanthropic organizations helped raise over one million dollars for women and children in need.  Traci was a dedicated parent volunteer at Cornerstone Elementary School in Rancho Palos Verdes where she touched the lives of hundreds of children by teaching 1st through 5th grade science, coaching the 4th and 5th grade Science Olympiad Team to gold medals, led School Site Safety, and coordinated many events, assemblies and field trips. 

Traci was also an Associate Producer of two Oscar Academy Awards Shows and Producer of the International Documentary Association Awards event.
