RPV Native to Construct World's Longest Barrel of Monkeys Chain

Parker Phinney plans to set a Guinness Book World Record for the longest Barrel of Monkeys chain Sunday in Hanover, N.H.

A Rancho Palos Verdes native plans to fulfill a lifelong dream this weekend by constructing the world's longest Barrel of Monkeys chain.

Parker Phinney, a 22-year-old Dartmouth College senior, will attempt to set the Guinness Book World Record at noon Sunday in the Hopkins Center's Top of the Hop, in Hanover, N.H., according to a New Hampshire Union Leader report

Phinney, who said he first got the idea to create the longest chain in middle school, will try to hang 5,000 monkeys during Sunday's event. He hopes to raise a dollar for each monkey and give the money to Child's Play, which gives toys to children in hospitals, according to the report.
