Blog: Good News From Handmade Especially for You

Volunteers have started contacting Handmade. They want to make scarves. We supply free yarn. Here's how to get it.

Several Patch readers already have contacted me requesting kits so they can make comfort scarves for abused women. I am very excited about this. I haven't "blogged" before. Looks like doing so is a very good idea for Handmade.

So if you live in PV and you want to KNIT comfort scarves, all you have to do is go to Concepts in Yarn (24520 Hawthorne Blvd., Suite 100, in Torrance) during regular store hours and pick up a few kits. June Grossberg, the owner, is Handmade's sponsor. She keeps a bin of kits for knitting scarves in the alcove near the coffee machine. There is another bin where you can drop off your finished scarves.

If you want to CROCHET comfort scarves, you do need to contact me. I will make kits for you. I can leave them for you at Concepts, or you and I can meet somewhere convenient for both of us so I can give them to you. Please do not try to crochet a scarf from a knit kit. The scarf will come out too short.

Again, I am very excited about this initial response. Tell your friends about Handmade. Get your family involved. There is too much domestic violence and too few comfort scarves. Let's see what we all can do to change this.
