PVPHS Senior Wins Prestigious Nordstrom Scholarship

Jennifer Marcott is one of 80 students nationwide to receive the $10,000 Nordstrom scholarship.

CORRECTION: An earlier version of this story misidentified Jennifer Marcott as a junior. She is in the 12th grade. This has been corrected below, and we regret the error.

A Palos Verdes Peninsula High School senior became the school's first-ever student to receive a $10,000 college scholarship from Nordstrom, PVPHS principal Mitzi Cress announced in an email to parents.

Jennifer Marcott, who applied for the scholarship as a junior, was one of 80 students nationwide awarded the scholarship out of 11,000 applicants. She was one of 128 national finalists in June, and after a Skype interview in July, she was named one of the 15 finalists in the western states.

"Jennifer was selected based on her dedication to the community, academic achievement, and ambitious future goals," Cress wrote.

In addition to the $10,000 scholarship—paid annually in installments of $2,500—Marcott received a new MacBook.
