SEED Award Application Deadline Extended

The SEED awards aim to encourage and inspire environmental sustainability strategies.

The application deadline for the annual SoCal Environmental Excellence Development (SEED) Awards program has been extended to June 21, according to an email from Rancho Palos Verdes city staff.

The original deadline was last Monday.

Awards are given in the categories of environmental leadership, pollution prevention, education and outreach, resource preservation and innovation. There is also a Bridge-Builder Award.

Sponsored by the South Bay Business Environmental Coalition, the SEED awards honor local individuals, groups, schools and businesses that have exhibited excellence in helping to improve environmental sustainability and quality of life in the South Bay, according to RPV staff.

Honorees will be selected by a panel of business and industry representatives, with the award presentation taking place on Sept. 26 by invitation only.

Past SEED award winners and honorees include former Patch columnist Joe Galliani, Northrop Grumman, Terranea Resort and the Crowne Plaza in Redondo Beach.
