PV Symphonic Band Holiday Concert

Come
celebrate the season with the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band, which will
present its annual Holiday Concert on Sunday, December 8th at 2:00 PM in the Frances Young Hall at the
South Coast Botanic Garden,
26300 Crenshaw Boulevard, in the Palos Verdes
Peninsula.

The Palos Verdes Symphonic Band,
under the direction of David Stanton, consists of 60 local musicians dedicated since 1962 to
bringing the very best in concert band music to
the South Bay community. This year the band will

be commemorating the 100th anniversary of the birth of prolific
American composer, conductor, and arranger Morton Gould, born on December 10, 1913, and will feature a work by Mr.
Gould at each concert this season. For the Holiday Concert, the Palos Verdes
Symphonic Band will be performing Gould’s Serenade
of Carols
.

The Dec.
8th concert will also feature two vocal groups from AMUSE MUSIC, The Palos
Verdes Music
Center
. The AMUSE Singers, an adult singing group,
and Vocality!, AMUSE’s teen vocal
ensemble, both under the

direction of Deborah Wicks La Puma, will combine with
the band to perform a medley of Christmas songs from Leroy Anderson’s
arrangement of traditional Christmas carols, Vaughn Williams’ setting of
English carols, and
selections of Christmas songs from Broadway.  The two vocal groups will also perform a short vocal set,
including Oh Hanukkah … in Santa Monica, and
they will lead the audience in a sing-a-long of popular holiday songs.
