Jacki Bacharach will present a brief history of the development
of transportation systems and policies in Los Angeles from the 1950's to
today and discuss future concepts.  She will interject her personal
involvement as the Founding Chair of the Southern California Regional Rail
Authority – the five-county agency that operates the Metrolink commuter rail system
as well as her experiences as chair of committees of the Los Angeles
County Transportation Commission (precursor to LA Metro) which
oversaw the development of the overall rail plan for L.A. County and the
construction of the Metro Blue and Green Lines.  She was also a
charter member of the Alameda Corridor Transportation Authority dealing with
landside access to the Ports of L.A. and Long Beach
