5 day painting class with Carolina D' Ayala Valva


Don't miss this exciting opportunity! Carolina d' Ayala Valva is making a rare appearance in Southern California to teach a five day workshop on Italian style Grotesque painting. Also included will be a slide presentation/ lecture on The History of Ornament by muralist Steve Shriver. The class will be held at Steve's studio in Rancho Palos Verdes and he will also be assisting Carolina with the class.
October 28- November 1st, 2013. 

Well known artist Carolina d' Ayala Valva will be teaching how to paint a classic Grotesque Candelabra panel using egg tempera.

Decorative painters, Muralists and Students interested in learning to paint like the old masters are invited!
Program for the Course in Grottesca (Grotesque) painting with traditional technique includes:
(the design will be provided by the instructor)
1-An introduction about the history of Grotesca painting, styles, elements
2- demonstration of how to prime the canvas
3- Transfer the design
4-Preperation of the egg medium
5-Preparation of the tempera painting
6-Preparation of the palette
7-Theory and practice of the "Three steps method".
8-Monochrome underpainting
9- Blending of colors using opaque and transparent paint.
10-Shading and highlight.

A deposit of $400 is required to reserve your space in class by August 10. The balance of $850 is due by September 30.
