Our neighbor, San Pedro, hosted a moving and stunning ceremony on board the USS Iowa this morning at 8:00 am. Names of 20 fallen heroes were read and a bell was rung after each name. Twenty names will be read each year. An LAFD fire boat pulled up alongside the ship for the ceremony. It then proceeded to move to the center of the channel and slowly released all its fire hoses and spun in a circle, creating a special and moving display. A woman next to me said: "I can feel it." Yes it was a heartfelt display of tribute to all who gave their lives and their courage on that dark day.
