Blog: SkateparkPV, Inc. Sustains Continued Support From RHE City Council

SkateparkPV, Inc. sustains continued support from the Rolling Hills Estates City Council to build a skate park at Ernie Howlett Park.

Mayor Frank Zerunyan and fellow Rolling Hills Estates City Council members, continue their support for SkateparkPV's goal to build a skate park at Ernie Howlett Park. Land located next to the basketball court, on the current sand volleyball court and adjacent land has been allocated for the building of a skate plaza type park.

Presently, deep borings are being done on site to determine how much of the soil must be remediated, in order to pour concrete. The land is the site of a former land fill.

Mayor Zerunyan stated that he would endorse the use of Quimby Funds to aid in the remediation. He also emphasized how much the City of Rolling Hills Estates supports and provides facilities for many youth sports on the Hill. For a city with only 13 percent of the entire Peninsula's population, Rolling Hills Estates has a disproportionate number of AYSO, Little League, Pony League and PVP Girls Softball players using their fields. This is not to mention the numerous tennis courts and equestrian facilities and trails. They were also the first city on the Hill to open their doors to Beachsports who hold skateboarding day camps and events on the basketball court at Ernie Howlett Park for the past three years.

SkateparkPV's supporters have never been more firm in their commitment to see that a first class skate plaza is built at Ernie Howlett Park. They intend to draw on the local skaters for input as to the design of the park. Stay tuned!
