Vanguard Skate is hosting A Midsummer's Day Skate Jam, this Sunday, July 29, from 12 noon to 6:00 pm. The event features food, a raffle, skate contests, and music. Bring your board for a great afternoon. 10% of all profits made that day will be donated to SkateparkPV, Inc. for their building fund.
One of the original Southern California skateboarders will be on hand for autographs. Jay Adams (born February 3, 1961) is an American skateboarder most prominently known as one of the original members of Z-Boys skateboarding team. He is considered one of the most influential skateboarders of all time. He was born in Venice, California. As a teenager in 1975, he was a member of the original Zephyr skateboard team and of the Zephyr surf team along with Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta.
Vanguard Skate is located at 5205 Pacific Coast Highway at the corner of Calle Mayor in Torrance. They have been a constant supporter of SkateparkPV's mission from the onset: To provide a safe and welcoming venue for skateboarders to practice their sport.
