Wind Advisory for the Coast

Expect gusts up to 40 mph in some oceanfront areas.

There's a wind advisory in effect Monday from noon to 9 p.m. for coastal areas in Los Angeles and Ventura counties. The National Weather Service warns that northwest winds will increase from 20 to 30 mph, with gusts of up to 40 mph in the afternoon.

Winds should reach their peak from the afternoon to early evening. Monday's high temperature is expected to be in the lower 60s.

Residents are encouraged to secure anything that might get tossed by the wind and motorists should guard against crosswinds that can cause loss of control, especially for those driving trucks and other high-profile vehicles.
