Wet Weather Hits South Bay

This week will see cooler temperatures, rain and gusty winds.

Cooler temperatures and rain are expected to hit Palos Verdes for much of this week, the National Weather Service predicts.

The Peninsula is expected to see temperatures in the 60s until Friday, when temps heat up to the low 70s, reaching 76 degrees on Saturday, according to the Weather Service.

The Weather Service predicted a slight chance of showers Tuesday afternoon and heavy rain on Wednesday with a slight chance of thunderstorms on Thursday, clearing up Friday and Saturday.

The Southland could see "widespread rainfall" all day on Wednesday, which might produce between a half-inch and an inch of rain, according to a Weather Service advisory.

It said that along with rain and wind, this week will bring cooler temperatures, with some areas likely to see temperatures fall 15 to 30 degrees below normal.

"The fast-moving cold front is expected to bring a 4-to-6-hour period of steady rainfall, with brief, heavy rain possible," the advisory said, adding it may also generate showers and thunderstorms on Thursday.
