Why Go: Indulge in an evening of fine wines and liquors, as well as tastings from more than 15 restaurants as this lavish event. Proceeds benefit the Palos Verdes Art Center.

Why Go: Head down to the beach and watch athletes compete on the sand and in the surf. Sports include paddleboarding, volleyball, running, sand soccer and, of course, surfing.

LAGUNA ARTS FESTIVAL & PAGEANT OF THE MASTERS EXCURSION
Where/When: 710 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach; Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Why Go: See the annual Pageant of the Masters—a highly intricate series of "living pictures." Bring a picnic basket and enjoy fine art under the stars.

Why Go: Comedian Laura Hayden presents her multimedia show I Didn't Mean to be a Virgin in the 80's at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland next month—but her Los Angeles fans are invited to a free performance this Friday!

A DAY IN THE PARK FOR KIM'S CAUSE
Where/When: Oak Canyon Park, 5600 Hollytree Dr., Oak Park; Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Why Go: Join The Independent Seed Foundation with their efforts to financially assist single mothers with life-threatening diseases. The festival includes a children's fashion show, games, face painting, food trucks, a bake sale and a lemonade stand. Proceeds go to Kim Liebe, a mother battling stage-four lung cancer.
