Why Go: Get ready for the weekend with a pre-Memorial Day BBQ! Burgers, sides and drinks will be available at Whole Foods to help kick off the holiday.

15TH ANNUAL FIREFIGHTERS' ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT PANCAKE BREAKFAST 

Where/When: Hermosa Beach Fire Department, 540 Pier Ave., Hermosa Beach; May 29, 7:30 a.m. to noon

Why Go: Firefighters cook a breakfast of pancakes, sausage, fruit and coffee to raise money for multiple charities as part of the Fiesta Hermosa activities.

MEMORIAL DAY 2011 

Where/When: Veteran's Park, 300 Espanade, Redondo Beach; May 30, 1-3 p.m.

Why Go: Join the community at this holiday park festival, which features remembrances and comments dedicated to those who we have lost in war. Open to the public, the Memorial Day event also includes music and BBQ.
