A massive 8.9-magnitude earthquake , causing a devastating tsunami that led to tsunami advisories here in Southern California. Beaches were in RPV but were seen at the city's beaches. A PV native now living in Japan and one sheriff's deputy on family there.

Voters reject charter

Tuesday's municipal election resulted in voters the city's charter proposal. The proposal—Measure C—would have transformed the city from a general law city to a charter city.

Panthers playoff run comes to an end

The Palos Verdes Peninsula boys basketball team headed to state playoff games this week after to compete. The boys in San Diego Tuesday night and won 65-54. The team then headed to Cal State Dominguez Hills to play Foothill High School . Finally, the boys traveled to Fontana to play Summit High School in the state semi-finals .

Allegedly abudcted 5-year-old found

A 5-year-old boy, allegedly abducted by his parents two years ago, was recently to his grandparents in RPV. Shalomiel Sol-El was found in New Orleans and "extremely malnourished" weighing 38 pounds, according to sheriff's reports. His parents were arrested in New Orleans.

Rare sperm whale showing

A pod of 15 sperm whales west of Long Beach on Wednesday afternoon. Researchers said it had been years since a group of the whales has been seen and never in such high numbers.
