Trails in Rolling Hills to Close for 6 Months

Beginning next week, trail closures are scheduled in Rolling Hills.

Trail closures are scheduled for the next few months near the Caballeros riding ring and Hesse's Gap in Rolling Hills.

The riding ring and trails that immediately connect to the ring will be closed until Nov. 1. During this time, construction on Poppy Trail will be underway, including grading the hillside, restoring the Georgeff Trail and modifying the Poppy Trail roadway.

Poppy Trail roadway will be closed to riders and pedestrians.

Closed trails will be marked with signs and fences. Signs indicating alternate routes will be displayed at trailheads. A map of trail closures is on display in the Rolling Hills Community Association Office, 1 Portuguese Bend Road.

Portions of the following trails will be closed immediately:

  • Jack and Betty Davidson Trail at Portuguese Bend Road and Poppy Trail
  • Sleepy Hollow Trail from Purple Canyon Trail to Poppy Trail Road

Riders on Bent Springs Trail will not be able to enter the Hesse's Gap area or access Poppy Trail Road. They can continue along Portuguese Bend Road to the upper portion of Georgeff Trail to access trails on the east side of Portuguese Bend Road.
