Redondo Beach

: Former UCLA lineman Nick Ekbatani was injured when his motorcycle collided with a taxicab in South Redondo Beach on July 14. Ekbatani's leg was amputated and friends have since raised thousands of dollars to pay for his prosthesis.

Manhattan Beach

: A federal judge in Los Angeles on Thursday rejected an emergency bid to freeze California's recently enacted ban on the sale of foie gras, the delicacy prepared from the force-feeding of ducks and geese.

: Manhattan Beach Officer of the Year Tony Presgraves was released from the hospital July 15, just days after his patrol car and a Honda SUV collided on Sepulveda Boulevard at Ninth Street in Manhattan Beach.

: Another 10-mile full closure of the San Diego (405) Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass was announced Thursday. The full closure will run Sept. 29-30.
