Spring Arrives in PV Nature Preserve

These native wildflowers bloomed before the recent rainstorms. Will March showers bring more flowers?

I found these signs of spring in three of the reserves that make up our Palos Verdes Nature Preserve:

Alta Vicente Nature Reserve on the slope behind RPV City Hall; The Portuguese Bend Nature Reserve, which begins at the end of Crenshaw; and the Upper Filiorum Nature Reserve. Park on Highridge Road on the ocean side of Crest Road. Walk eastward along Crest Road to the pilaster marked "McBride Trail." McBride extends along the ocean side of the homes on Ocean Terrace Drive. Follow the unnamed trail from the middle of the McBride Trail down into the canyon.

After all the rain, our nature reserve should be lushly green and if we're lucky, filled with more yellow sunflowers, purple lupine and heliotrope, white cliff asters and orange poppies.
