Pipeline Replacement in Rancho Palos Verdes Could Cause Traffic Delays

The California Water Service Co. project begins Monday and is expected to be completed in May.

A California Water Service Co. pipeline replacement project, which starts today in Rancho Palos Verdes, could tie up traffic in the coming months until the project's expected May completion.

The project along Palos Verdes Drive East will replace 1,200 feet of water main that runs diagonally under with 2,000 feet of water main along Palos Verdes Drive East, starting south of Colt Road to just south of Via Canada and continuing to a nearby Cal Water pump station.

Crews are expected to work 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday, March 17. Traffic on PV Drive East will be reduced to one lane in both directions.

"The existing main has been impacted in several places by ground movement," said Cal Water's Rancho Dominguez District Manager Henry Wind in a statement. "It's important for us to replace this critical transmission water main."

And while it doesn't have plans to interrupt water service, Cal Water said it will provide advance notice before any service interruption.
