May Day: It's Umbrella and Sweater Weather

A Gulf Of Alaska Storm is expected to bring a few days of rain and chilly temperatures.

No it’s not Groundhog Day again—it’s just May masquerading as February for the next few days.

A storm from the Gulf of Alaska has brought record cold weather and rain and snow along with it. The National Weather Service is predicting cold rain locally through Wednesday night.

In Palos Verdes this week, the overnight low temperatures are expected to be in the low 50s while the high will be in the mid 60s.

The Weather Service predicts snow levels to lower to 5,000 to 5,500 feet, with as much as a few inches of snow possible over the highest mountains.

Chilly temperatures on Monday resulted in record lows for the date at Long Beach Airport, UCLA, Lancaster and Sandberg. The Long Beach Airport saw a low of 49, which broke the old record of 50 set in 1964.
