Massive Waves Possible Today through Friday

Waves of up to nine feet are forecast in Los Angeles County.

Parts of Newport Beach this afternoon were getting 15-foot bombs as a south swell starts to hit the Southland.

High surf is expected to continue through Friday evening, with Orange County scoring the biggest waves but Los Angeles County beaches still getting big waves. And, as the Surfboard Man says, major wipeouts are inevitable.

The National Weather Service says the waves will generate strong and dangerous rip currents and that localized beach erosion is possible. Extreme negative times are expected in the mornings.
