Power is still out for 23 customers in the area, according to Rolling Hills Estates City Manager Doug Prichard, citing information from SCE.

"Until power is restored, the intersection ... may continue to have intermittenent lane closures, which may cause delays," Prichard said.

Residents are still encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid the area.

Power is expected to be restored Friday at 11 p.m. based on the assessments of field crews.

Due to the incident, the Palos Verdes Peninsula Transit Green Line was running late on Thursday, according to an alert from the service. A notice posted on the Palos Verdes Peninsula Unified School District website indicates that there would be "significant delays" of at least 20 minutes on the following routes on Thursday:

  • Green Route from Peninsula High School and Miraleste Intermediate School
  • Green Eastview Route from Miraleste Intermediate and Route 225

Green Route buses will be detouring to Pacific Coast Highway. There will be no service on Palos Verdes Drive North between Rolling Hills Road and Western Avenue.

One reader told Patch that there were backups on Western Avenue and Pacific Coast Highway on Thursday morning due to the closure.
