Free is the Best Kind of Deal

Free printable activities for kids to keep them occupied.

Cold and flu season is here and it would not be unusual to have a kid or two home sick from school and bored to tears. As a busy mom, I'm always looking for ways to keep the kids occupied during this time and not break the bank.

This week I've put together what I think is the best deal — free! I found five websites featuring free printable activities for kids. You can print coloring pages, mazes, Sudoku, kid craft ideas and even create your own word searches. So, double up on the chicken soup and start printing.

  1. Coloring Book Fun has a huge selection of printable character and holiday coloring pages.
  2. All Kids Network has mazes to print that range from easy to hard.
  3. Super Teacher Worksheets not only has Sudoku worksheets for kids, but also has supplemental school worksheets for grades 1-5 in math, grammar, science, social studies, reading comprehension and more. You can even print out additional teaching tools.
  4. All Free Crafts has printable instructions for everything from how to make a Father’s Day card to a papier-mache fish.
  5. Discover Education is a great resource for teachers and parents. Use the free Puzzlemaker to create word searches with all the names of your child’s classmates, or all of the people in your family. There are many other puzzles to choose from if your child isn’t fond of word searches.
