Forecasters Predict Wet Weather Ahead

Meteorologists predict that two storms will hit the Southland—one Tuesday evening through Wednesday and another Thursday evening through Friday.

Don't wash the car, as a pair of winter storms were predicted to hit the Southland on Wednesday and Friday, National Weather Service forecasters said Sunday.

Between a half inch and a full inch of rain is likely in the coastal plains of Los Angeles and Ventura counties from each storm.

The storms were predicted to be stronger to the south of Los Angeles, and about twice as much rain was forecast for Orange and San Diego counties' coastal strip.

Meteorologists indicated that there is a 90 percent chance of rain in Redondo Beach starting Tuesday evening, and an 80 percent chance of rain Wednesday. Thursday will be partly cloudy, though rain is likely in the evening through Friday.

Snow was likely in the mountains down to the 5,500-foot elevation as cold air moves in late Wednesday to the inland mountains near Idyllwild, Palomar Mountain and Alpine. Snow amounts were not yet fixed in any NWS predictions from the Oxnard forecast office.
