Cooler Weather Expected in PV This Weekend

Cool air is expected to return later in the week, the National Weather Service predicts. Palos Verdes is expected to see highs in the low 80s until Friday.

Palos Verdes residents can expect hot summer weather at least until Friday, when the National Weather Service predicts temperatures will fall into the 70s, reaching the 60s by this weekend.

A combination of offshore winds and a "very warm air mass" created a hot spell that's hit much of the region this week, according to the Weather Service.

Highs of 83 degrees are predicted for today and Thursday in Palos Verdes, with temperatures in the 70s expected Friday. This weekend, the Weather Service predicts highs in the upper 60s.

Residents who want to cool down should head to the beaches where the National Weather Service says temperatures will be coolest, with peak temperatures about noon.

Humidity levels are expected to remain low throughout the remainder of this week and excessive heat levels are not expected to be met, the Weather Service said in a statement.

The Weather Service issued tips for staying safe in the heat:

  • Adjust plans for outdoor activities on especially warm days.
  • Never leave children or pets in enclosed vehicles even for short amounts of time.
  • Stay in the shade or air conditioning during the hottest parts of the day.
