1,000 Attend Easter Egg Hunt

The Peninsula Shopping Center hosted its Easter egg hunt on Saturday.

More than 1,000 people visited the Peninsula Shopping Center in Rolling Hills Estates for an Easter egg hunt on Saturday.

"This is the largest gathering I've ever seen from an event at the Shopping Center in all the years I've been here," said Justin Chang of Baskin Robbins.

For three hours, local children and their parents searched the center for 1,000 plastic eggs containing a variety of prizes donated by local merchants, according to a news release from the shopping center. All children received prizes, including 10-year-old Taylor, who ended up with $150 worth of gift certificates.

"I've never won anything and can't believe I actually got two big prizes," said Taylor.

Organizers only anticipated having about 150 children attend; the center chalked up the high attendance to inserts in local newspapers and fliers sent home with children from school.
