You Might Find It Cheaper on Oahu

Gallons of gas in the area are going for about 20 cents more than last week.

Fuel prices in the Long Beach-Los Angeles area are near the highest in the U.S. as Libya's internal battle for control of its oil fields continues, pushing oil prices to $103 a barrel.

The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Long Beach-Los Angeles region is $3.821 per gallon, just a fraction less than the highest national average -- Hawaii's $3.816; that's according to the Automobile Club of Southern California’s Weekend Gas Watch.

It puts the Long Beach-L.A. average at 21.7 cents more than a week ago, 45 cents more than last month's cost, and 81 cents higher than a year ago. And you might even get a better deal on some parts of Oahu: A Sam's Club in Pearl City was selling a gallon of regular for $3.56 compared to $3.68 at a Sam's Club at Carson Street and Downey Drive in Long Beach.
