Sprouts & Shutters: New Businesses, Ballot Measure

New businesses come to Rolling Hills Estates, Redondo Beach and Torrance. Plus, a "Quiet Nights" initiative will appear on the ballot in Hermosa Beach.

Sprouts

The Palos Verdes Peninsula Chamber of Commerce celebrated two grand openings on Deep Valley Drive in Rolling Hills Estates last week, chamber president Eileen Hupp told Patch. Cépage Wines, located on the Brickwalk at 701 Deep Valley Drive, aims to provide visitors with unique wines that are reasonably priced—90 percent of the wines cost less than $25. The wine shop also hosts tastings, according to its website

The second business, called The Wellness Boutique, offers "alternative wellness solutions," according to its Facebook page. Its services include detox and vibration exercises, and it also sells earrings, yoga pants, soy candles, salt lamps and more. The business is located at 710 Deep Valley Drive in Rolling Hills Estates.

Less than a month after closing its location near the intersection of Catalina Avenue and Avenue I, Harmony Works owners Michael and Royce Morales announced that the gift shop is moving up the street to 1911 S. Catalina Ave. The couple will take control of the building, which houses soon-to-close dive shop Sea d Sea, in mid-July and hope to be open by late August.

Bella Gelato is now serving up sweet treats on the Redondo Beach Pier. Located in the Redondo Landing leasehold, the gelato and sorbet shop offers flavors like white chocolate and Nutella, spumoni, pistachio, mango, chocolate, and more. 

La Paz Jr., an "offshoot of a successful operation in El Segundo," has opened on the northeast corner of Artesia Boulevard and Inglewood Avenue in Redondo Beach, the Easy Reader reports. The eatery serves Sonora-style Mexican food. 

A Kosher restaurant may be opening in South Redondo Beach this summer, according to Easy Reader food writer Richard Foss. No word on the address or name of the new spot.

Assembly-line pizzeria Blaze Pizza opened up shop in Rolling Hills Plaza in Torrance on June 22. The pizzas range from $5 to $7.45 in cost. Craft beer is also available.

Shutters

Longtime dive shop Sea d Sea will close permanently on Monday, according to its website. The Daily Breeze reported that the owners of the Riviera Village institution are retiring.  

Other business news

Hermosa Beach residents will have another business-oriented ballot measure to consider Election Day this November. Activist Jim Lissner's newest measure—dubbed the "Quiet Nights" initiative—would, over a period of 5 years, move up the closing time of businesses in downtown Hermosa Beach to midnight on weeknights and 1 a.m. on the weekends, the Easy Reader reports.
